Rules of Play
Summer Rules — all strokes must be counted. Improving lies is not allowed. If in doubt, ask your opponent.
- All male players play the blue tees. Female players may play red tees.
- Lost balls / unplayable lies: Count a one-stroke penalty and place (don't drop) the ball in the area of the lost ball, leaving yourself a decent stance and swing.
- Maximum score per hole is Triple Bogey (3 over par): Par 3 = 6, Par 4 = 7, Par 5 = 8. Once reached, pick up — mark the score with a + (e.g., 7+). A player may also concede a putt to their opponent if the hole is already lost.
- Play Ready Golf. In the spirit of fast play, players should hit as soon as they are ready, regardless of who last won a hole.
Maximum Score Scenarios (Par 4 example):
Scenario 1: Both Player A and Player B take a 7+. Each player receives ½ point — it's a tie.
Scenario 2: Player A cards a natural 7; Player B scores a 7+. Player A wins the hole and receives 1 point.
Scenario 3: Player A cards a natural 7; Player B scores a 7+. Player A gives Player B a stroke on that hole. Player A still wins the hole and 1 point — taking a 7+ is equivalent to conceding the hole.
Disputes
In the event of a dispute between two players, escalate the issue to the League Director immediately after the round. Determine match results and individual scores each week, then submit to the commissioner for standing updates and handicapping.
If uncertain how to proceed on a rules situation during a round, ask your opponent. If you're still unsure, play two balls — one from the original spot and one from relief — and report both scores to the League Director with the scorecard.
"Player taking a mulligan."
No mulligans. If you choose to play another ball from the same spot, you are hitting your third stroke from the tee.
"Moving the ball out of a divot in the fairway (Winter Rules)."
The league plays Summer Rules. Moving your ball is always a one-stroke penalty.
"Practice swing in a sand trap."
If your club touches the sand in any way — including a practice swing — it is a one-stroke penalty. Note: this rule does not apply to sand in the desert or designated waste areas.
"Putting in any fashion (conventional, reverse-handed, behind-the-back, etc.) resulting in a miss."
It still counts as a stroke.
"Last player has bladed the ball over the green — others should start putting to speed up play."
This is a Ready Play league. Don't wait on account of other players behind you.
"You cannot mark your putt outside of the putting green surface (fringe, fairway)."
Marking your ball off the green results in a 1-stroke penalty. Exception: if your ball is in another player's line, they may request you mark regardless of surface.
"Lost balls in the fairway or just in the rough."
If a ball is deemed lost, place a ball in the same area (rough stays in the rough; desert stays in the desert) and take a one-stroke penalty. Let's be honest — you really can't lose a ball in the fairway.
